The project was envisaged in 2014, starting with Sarin Investments owning land & building on high street at Lower Hutt CBD. During the same time the Hutt City Council was working on its Civic Precinct Development plans to rebuild the town hall with state of the art facilities and make it a preferred destination for functions and events not only for local and domestic market but also for international markets. In this plan the Council also identified a need for 4 Star plus accommodation in the Lower Hutt CBD aligning with the Event Centre development plans and to meet the growing demand.

The entire feasibility study of the Events Centre and 4 Star plus accommodation was carried out by Horwath HTL outlining successful outcomes of the project. Many operators including Sarin Investments were invited to bid for the project of managing the Events Centre and Hotel operations. After extensive scrutiny and several rounds of discussions, Sarin Investments were chosen as the operators of the project. The company’s extensive experience & knowledge at operating hotels and convention centres, financial stability and a team of skilled executives leveraged their positions to win the deal.

Sarin Investments owns the land across the Event Centre over looking the Riddford Gardens. A new 4.5 Star hotel under ‘The Sebel’ brand would be built in tandem with the Events Centre.

The hotel has been currently franchised by Accor Hotels as a 4.5 Star Brand of ‘The Sebel’. This would be New Zealand’s first purpose built Sebel and would begin with 60 apartments in phase 1. With the growth in demand, more apartments would be added to the hotel pool. Complete with a restaurant and bar, the new hotel will be purpose built to meet The Sebel brand standards, with warm, stylish and homely furnishings to make guests feel welcome as soon as they arrive in The Sebel lounge.
